HEALTH UPDATE

Hi, my name is Greg Davis and I was born with a heart disease called Transposition of the Great Vessels. When I was three week old, the doctors at Children's Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, actually had to make a hole in my heart in order for me to live long enough for the corrective surgery which was supposed to have been when I was about six years old. Because the pressures in my heart were so great, at age 1-1/2 I had to have my corrective surgery.

My corrective surgery was also at Children's Medical Center in Dallas, Texas and was done by Dr. Wilson. The doctors actually rebuilt the chambers in my heart, but with the technology that was available at the time, this process made my heart pump backwards. So for the last 33-1/2 years, my heart has been overworking. I have been told that my heart is just tired and worn out and I have been diagnosed with severe Class IV congestive heart failure symptoms. There are no conventional surgical options to me at this time and without a heart transplant, my life expectancy is two years.  Currently, my doctors are attempting a medical management strategy to prevent further deterioration in my status.

I am the son of Roger & Judy Davis of Terrell, Texas. My grandparents are the Rev. C. R. Davis (deceased) and his wife, Mary Francis Davis of Seagoville, Texas and the Allen and Gladys Griffin (deceased) of Woodville, Texas.

I have been under the care of Dr. Sabrina Phillips of the Heart Place at Baylor Medical Center since September 2004.  Under the care of Dr. Johannes J. Kuiper, M.D. at the Heart Place, I was on the transplant list at a status 1-B.  Currently, I am a patient at Medical City Transplant Center, under the care of Dr. Eric Eichhorn, MD, as a status 2 candidate.  My overall condition, while stable at this time, could deteriorate at any time.

I appreciate your prayers and help during this time of my life.
